To level up its life-saving expertise during times of disaster, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) partnered with WeatherPhilippines Foundation, an Aboitiz-led multi-sectoral initiative that aims to provide Filipinos with a premier weather sensing and forecasting system.
Under the partnership, WeatherPhilippines provides PDRF access to timely and accurate weather information and†drive facilitates weather training programs for PDRF’s members.
“This partnership with WeatherPhilippines helped us improve PDRF’s alert system. After starting the partnership and through the times we have conducted trainings and engagement initiatives with them, we have observed how the whole of PDRF has embodied the #WeatherWiser campaign,” said Anthony Zuñiga, PDRF Learning and Development Manager.
Zuñiga added that aside from the vital information that PDRF uses in its alert systems, PDRF now aligns its planning schedules, activities, and decision-making based on the information it gets from the WeatherPhilippines website (weatherph.org) and the WeatherPH free mobile application.
“We look forward to developing more relevant courses with WeatherPhilippines, engage more people and communities, and continue building a #WeatherWiser nation with WeatherPhilippines,” Zuñiga concluded.
Meanwhile, WeatherPhilippines First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Maribeth L. Marasigan expresses the Foundation’s commitment to explore new strategies to co-create safe, empowered, and sustainable communities with partners like PDRF.
“In 2019, the Aboitiz Weather group will ramp up our efforts to more actionable program-based initiatives. Together with all of our partners, we remain confident to reach more businesses, communities, and schools as we progress in building a #WeatherWiser Philippines,” Marasigan said.
WeatherPhilippines Foundation is a multi-sectoral initiative that aims to provide Filipinos with a premier weather sensing and forecasting system made possible by Technology, Stakeholder Engagement, and Communication.
Founded in 2012 by the Aboitiz Group and UnionBank, WeatherPhilippines delivers free, localized, and accurate weather information accessed through its website (https://weatherph.org) and the WeatherPH mobile application.
The Foundation aims to complement the government’s nationwide efforts on disaster risk reduction. It strives for the Philippines to become a #WeatherWiser Nation by optimizing weather knowledge for socio-economic growth and progress.
