WeatherPhilippines Daily Graphical Satellite Analysis from 12pm Feb 21 until 12pm Feb 22, 2019

EASTERLIES (Easterly Surface Windflow) still prevails across BATANES & BABUYAN ISLAND GROUP, NORTHERN and EASTERN LUZON, including Metropolitan Manila and the BICOL REGION, while the NORTHEASTERLIES (Northeasterly Trade Wind) has developed overtime, and is now affecting the VISAYAS and much of NORTHERN and EASTERN MINDANAO – where partly to mostly cloudy skies, light to gentle to breeze with isolated rain showers & possible thunderstorms is expected.

Meanwhile, Typhoon (TY) WUTIP (02W), intensified from a Tropical Storm overnight is tracking west-northwestward @ 20 km/hr towards Western Micronesia, packing winds of 120 km/hr and gusting higher at 150 km/hr. Long-range Global forecasts are hinting for a possible Southern Marianas Islands passage in the coming days, but there’s still a high degree of uncertainty at this time. Should the storm enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later this week, which is very unlikely at this time, it will be named locally as ‘‘Betty.”

THE REST OF THE COUNTRY will be clear with partly cloudy skies, cooler nights, and isolated rain showers in some areas.

**Residents are advised to be on alert for possible flashfloods, landslides or lightning strikes during the occurrence of Severe Thunderstorms.
