Moderate SOUTHWEST MONSOON (HABAGAT) is blowing strongly across WESTERN SECTIONS OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN LUZON including SCARBOROUGH (PANATAG) SHOAL, METROPOLITAN MANILA, BATANES GROUP OF ISLANDS, CAVITE, BATANGAS, and LAGUNA, QUEZON; MINDORO and NORTHERN PALAWAN, including the KALAYAAN ISLAND GROUP (KIG). Partly to mostly cloudy (overcast) skies with scattered to widespread light to moderate to at times heavy rain showers and thunderstorms can be expected, becoming more frequent along the western coastal areas of the abovementioned areas. The winds will be fresh to strong breeze (35 to 55 km/hr), making the seas moderate to very rough/high seas (2.5 to 5.5 meters) and risky to all sea vessels to navigate on.
Meanwhile, VISAYAS and MINDANAO will experience some passing cloud cover or thunder showers due to SOUTHWESTERLY SURFACE WIND (SOUTHWESTERLIES), where afternoon or early evening thunderstorms are possible to develop.
The REST OF THE PHILIPPINES will have clear to partly cloudy skies with isolated to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in some areas especially in the afternoon or evening.
**Residents are advised to be on alert for POSSIBLE FLASHFLOODS, LANDSLIDES OR LIGHTNING STRIKES during the occurrence of Severe Thunderstorms.
Important note: In the infrared (IR) satellite image shown above: BLUE areas indicate Clear Skies with a Few Clouds; GREEN = Partly to Mostly Cloudy Skies; YELLOW = Mostly Cloudy to Hazy Skies with Possible Slight-to-Moderate Rainfall; and RED = Thunderstorms with Moderate to Heavy to sometimes Extreme Rainfall.
