Current Status and Outlook

Typhoon TALIM (LANNIE) slowly gaining strength while moving fast, northwestward across the northernmost part of the North Philippine Sea…expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this afternoon.

This storm is expected to slow down and move west-northwest for the next 24 hours at a speed of 13 km/hr, and shall be passing very close Miyakojima this afternoon.  TALIM (LANNIE) will continue to intensify throughout the forecast period.

Where is TALIM (Lannie)? As of 5:00 AM PhT today, September 13…2100 GMT.  The cloud-filled eye was located over the Northernmost Part of the North Philippine Sea (near 24.4N 126.6E), about 513 km east of Taipei, Taiwan or 644 km northeast of Basco, Batanes.
