Severe Tropical Storm NANMADOL (EMONG) Final StormWatch

Current Status and Outlook NANMADOL (EMONG) has strengthened into a Severe Tropical Storm (STS) after moving out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning, on its way to Western Japan. This is the final update on this cyclone.
Where is Nanmadol (Emong)? As of 5:00 PM PhT today, July 03…0900 GMT.  The center was located over the East China Sea (near 28.7N 125.6E), about 344 km northwest of Okinawa, Japan or 985 km north-northeast of Basco, Batanes. 
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (10-min avg): 110 kph near the center…Gustiness: 140 kph
Past Movement (6 hrs) North-Northeast @ 35 kph, towards Western Japan.

  • The Global Typhoon Models (GTM) are showing that STS Nanmadol (Emong) will make landfall along the western coast of Kyushu, Japan on Tuesday morning (July 4).
