Tropical Depression MUIFA (DANTE) Final StormWatch

Current Status and Outlook MUIFA (DANTE) has weakened into a Tropical Depression (TD) as it is about to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

*Since it will no longer pose a threat to our country, this is now the Final StormWatch on this Tropical Cyclone.

Where is Muifa (Dante)? As of 8:00 PM PhT today, April 27…1200 GMT.  The center was located along the easternmost part of the Central Philippine Sea (near 17.0N 134.9E), about 1,328 km east of Palanan, Isabela or 1,368 km east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora. 
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (10-min avg): 55 kph near the center…Gustiness: 75 kph
Where is it heading? It was moving North @ 20 kph, towards the open seas of the Western Pacific Ocean.

  • The Global Typhoon Models (GTM) continues to show TD Muifa completing its recurvature through the next 1-2 days.
  • The latest 24-hour Forecast shows TD Muifa dissipating into an area of low pressure over the open sea.  This forecast remains at HIGH CONFIDENCE.
