TYPHOON NOCK-TEN (NINA) UPDATE NUMBER 017 (FINAL)

Current Status and Outlook Typhoon NOCK-TEN (NINA) has maintained its strength during the past 12 hours as it continues to move west-northwest over the northern part of the West Philippine Sea.

This typhoon is expected to turn west-southwest to southwestward within the next 24 hours with decreased forward speed of 12 km/hr. It is likely to move out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) late this evening or early tomorrow morning (Dec 28).

With this development, this is the final update for Nock-ten (Nida) from WeatherPhilippines.

Where is “NOCK-TEN” (NINA)? As of 5:00 AM PhT today, December 27…2100 GMT.  The center was located over the west-northern part of the West Philippine Sea (near 15.0N 116.8E), about 380 km west of Subic Bay, Zambales or 343 km west of Iba, Zambales.

THURSDAY EARLY MORNING: Moves down further southwestward over the southern portion of the South China Sea as it dissipates into a mere area of low pressure…about 297 km east of Nha Trang City, Vietnam [2AM DEC 29: 11.9N 111.9E @ 35kph].  Confidence Level:  LOW.
