Current Status and Outlook Tropical Disturbance (LPA) 94W [DODONG] has accelerated further northward and is expected to move out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later tonight.

Meanwhile, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to bring occasional rains and thunderstorms across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas today through the weekend. 

Where is LPA 94W (DODONG)? As of 5:00 PM PhT today, June 26…0900 GMT. The center was located over the northernmost part of the North Philippine Sea [near 23.5°N 128.3°E], about 314 km south of Okinawa, Japan or 735 km east-northeast of Basco, Batanes.
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (10-min avg): 35 kph near the center…gustiness: 50 kph.
Past Movement (06 hrs) North @ 26 kph, towards the Okinawa-Ryukyu Islands.
Forecast Highlights
  • This LPA is forecast to exit the northern border of PAR later tonight, and could still reach Tropical Depression (TD) status within the next 12 to 24 hours.
  • This disturbance will still enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and bring occasional rains and thunderstorms across the western sections of the country particularly Western Luzon including Metro Manila today and through the weekend. The Multi-Model Rain Forecast continues to show these monsoon rains through Sunday (June 30). Please be advised that severe thunderstorms may also occur across these areas which could cause flash floods and landslides. Precautionary measures must be implemented during the approach of these weather systems.
