The surge of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) as enhanced by Tropical Depression 24W (LUIS), located off the northwest coast of Taiwan (outside of PAR) and LPA 93W will bring moderate, heavy to extreme rainfall (30 to more than 100 mm) over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Provinces, Abra, Western Apayao, Western Kalinga, Western Mt. Provimce, Western Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Western Tarlac, Western Pampanga, Zambales, and Bataan – Today through late Saturday afternoon (August 25). The rains will be more frequent along the coastal and mountain slope areas of these affected provinces. Hence, the ORANGE, RED, and VIOLET Rain Alerts (Severe Weather Warnings) have been hoisted along these areas. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides.
