The thick rainbands associated with the surge of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and Tropical Disturbance (LPA) 99W will bring moderate to extreme rainfall (30 to more than 100 mm) across Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Burias Island, Ticao Island, Masbate, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Samar and Leyte Provinces, Dinagat Is., Negros and Panay Provinces, Guimaras, Siquijor Is., Cebu, Bohol, Surigao Provinces including Dinagat and Siargao Islands, Agusan Provinces, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Northern Bukidnon, Northern part of Lanao Del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Northern part of Zamboanga Del Norte, Northernmost part of Zamboanga Del Sur – today through Tuesday afternoon (Jan 02). The rains will be more frequent along the coastal and mountain slope areas of these affected provinces. Hence, the ORANGE, RED, and VIOLET Rain Alerts (Severe Weather Warnings) have been hoisted along these areas. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides.
