The thick rain bands associated with the prevailing Easterly Surface Trade wind (EASTERLIES) and the Trough of Tropical Disturbance (LPA) 97W is bringing moderate to extreme rainfall (30 to more than 100 mm) across Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Homonhon Island, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo & Guimaras, Dinagat & Siargao Islands, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Agusan del Sur, Davao de Oro, Agusan del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Sur, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Sarangani, Sarangani Island, South Cotabato, Bukidnon & Cotabato – Today through Sunday morning (December 22). The rains will be more frequent along the coastal and mountain slope areas of these affected provinces. Hence, the ORANGE, RED & VIOLET Rain Alert have been hoisted along these areas. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides. Elsewhere, the Severe Weather Warning has been lowered.
