The thick rain bands associated with the SOUTHWEST MONSOON (HABAGAT) continues to prevail across the Western seaboards of the country affecting Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Pangasinan, Benguet, Nva. Ecija, Zambales, Bataan, Metropolitan Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Lubang Is., Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Semirara Is., Romblon Is., Camarines Sur, Aklan, Boracay Is., Antique, Iloilo, Calamian and Coron Is. Group, Palawan, including the Northern part of the Kalayaan Is. Group (KIG) today through Wednesday afternoon (August 23). The rains will be more frequent along the coastal and mountain slope areas of these affected provinces. Hence, the RED and ORANGE Rain Alert (Severe Weather Warnings) have been hoisted along these areas. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides.
