“The Weather 101 and Tropical Cyclone 101 training is very timely and informative. It gives us additional ideas we can use in making/revising our school Disaster Management Plan. In general, it made us weather wiser and the knowledge we gained can in turn be shared to our students, parents and community to make them disaster-ready.”
-Lucin Fruelda, Principal
DepEd Region 4B personnel, all 285 of them, are now weather wiser after learning basic concepts, processes, and effects of different weather disturbances and rain-producing weather systems in the country. This after DepEd and its disaster risk reduction officers from Divisions of Oriental Mindoro, Calapan City, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Puerto Princesa, Marinduque and Romblon attended the Weather 101 and Tropical Cyclone 101 training from July to August.
The training provides the participants with the groundwork for creating their own disaster preparedness programs to ensure business and life continuity after a typhoon. The partnership between CitySavings and WeatherPhilippines is driven by the commitment to promote better education and empower communities to build a weather wiser nation.
“Learning should not end in this training. It is better if you will apply what you have learned, and it is best if you can create something out of it. That is making a difference! That is learning with a mission!”
-Melchor M. Famorcan, Education Program Supervisor-Science, Romblon
