Ber months usually excite Filipinos with the “sweater-weather” because of the cold breeze brought about by Hanging Amihan, or the Northeast Monsoon.
But despite the impresssion of a finer weather, the months of October, November, and December actually bore witness to strong tropical cyclones such as Haiyan, Hagupit and Melor.
Thus, there is still a need to stay vigilant, and to be weather-wiser during this season.
Last October 6, 2016, WxBunka Foundation of Japan partnered with WeatherPhilippines to create a weather-preparedness culture that’s deeply embedded in the Filipino consciousness.
WxBunka Foundation will initiate this vision with WeatherPhilippines through a donation of JPY 2.5 M or Php 1.7 M.
The donation will enable WeatherPhilippines to convert 60 Eastern Visayas Automated Weather Stations (AWS) into solar-powered units. “Through this partnership, Japan and the Philippines can build a weather culture that sustainably saves lives, and enhances livelihoods”- Jiro Miyabe, Head Director, WxBunka Foundation.
